About the programme
What is the YRE program?
The YRE program is an international initiative that empowers young individuals to become environmental reporters. It provides a platform for participants to research, report, and communicate environmental issues through various media formats.
Who can participate in YRE Bangladesh?
YRE Bangladesh is open to individuals between the ages of 11-25 years in 3 groups: 11-14, 15-18, and 19-25 years. Whether you’re a student, educator, or young professional with a passion for the environment and storytelling, you’re welcome to join.
Do I need prior journalism experience to join?
No, prior journalism experience is not required. YRE Bangladesh is designed to provide you with the skills and guidance needed to excel in environmental reporting, regardless of your background.
How can my school be involved?
YRE Bangladesh welcomes schools to participate by encouraging students to join as young reporters. We also offer educational resources that teachers can integrate into their curricula to enhance environmental education.

Is there a fee to join YRE Bangladesh?
No, there is no fee to join YRE Bangladesh. Participation in the program is free of charge. Our aim is to provide equal opportunities for young individuals who are passionate about environmental reporting.
Reporting & competitions
What topics can I report on?
You can report on a wide range of environmental topics, such as climate change, biodiversity, conservation, pollution, sustainable practices, and more. The choice of topic depends on your interests and the issues that matter to you.
What types of reports are accepted?
YRE Bangladesh accepts various media formats, including articles, photography, and videos. These formats allow you to express your creativity and communicate your message effectively.
Can I submit reports in my local language?
Yes, you can submit reports in your local language. We encourage participants to express themselves in the language they are most comfortable with, as long as the content is clear and effectively communicates the environmental message. However, please note that all submissions must include subtitles in English if the preferred communication language is Bengali, and vice versa. This ensures that the content can be understood by a wider audience and facilitates cross-cultural exchange of ideas.
Can I participate in competitions?
Absolutely! YRE Bangladesh organizes competitions in different categories, allowing you to showcase your work and compete for recognition and prizes. Details about competitions and themes will be provided during the program.
